Frequently asked questions

Menu names are followed by their Korean labels in parentheses.

How do I turn on CronKey on iPhone?
  1. Go to Settings › General › Keyboard › Keyboards › Add New Keyboard and choose “CronKey” (크론키).
  2. Tap the “CronKey” keyboard you added and turn on Allow Full Access.
  3. When you type, tap the 🌐 key at the bottom of the keyboard to switch to CronKey.

Tap the notification icon at the top right of the Keyboard tab in the CronKey app and we'll guide you through the remaining steps one by one.

How do I turn it on on Android?
  1. In the Keyboard tab of the CronKey app, tap the notification icon, tap “Open settings” (설정 열기) and turn on “CronKey” in the keyboard list.
  2. Tap “Choose keyboard” (키보드 선택) and select CronKey as your default keyboard.
  3. To use 🎤 voice input, also tap “Allow microphone” (마이크 허용).
Why is “Allow Full Access” needed? Is what I type collected?

On iPhone, Full Access is needed for features that use the internet — such as ✦ AI suggestions, translation, voice input and photo replies — as well as for haptics and for keyboard settings you change in the app.

What you type with CronKey is never collected or stored. Only when you tap an AI feature button yourself is the content needed for that feature sent. For details, please see the Privacy Policy.

How do the AI features work?

CronKey uses Google's Gemini AI to help with sentence suggestions, translation, spell check (including spacing), polishing voice input, photo-based reply suggestions, chat and emoticon creation. The first time, you need to confirm the “Gemini usage notice” (Gemini 이용 안내) before you can use AI features.

Sentences written by AI can be wrong or awkward, so please check them before sending.

How do I make and send emoticons?

In the app, go to Theme › Emoticons › Create (테마 › 이모티콘 › 만들기) to make your own emoticon with AI — choose or take a photo of yourself, or describe what you want in words. Your emoticons and the default emoticons (CronKey) are right there under the 😊 button on the keyboard.

  • Android: in input fields that accept images (KakaoTalk, Messages, etc.), tapping one inserts it right away.
  • iPhone: keyboards can't insert images directly, so tapping one copies it. Long-press the input field and choose “Paste” to send it.
Who is “CronKey” in the Chat tab?

An AI friend that answers using Google Gemini. Ask anything, attach a photo with the + to the left of the input field, or tap 🎤 next to Send to speak instead of typing. Conversations and photos are saved only on this device, and you can delete them at any time with ⋮ › Delete at the top right of the chat screen. If an answer is uncomfortable or wrong, please let us know with ⋮ › Report.

How do I add friends?

Tap the + button at the bottom right of the Friends (친구) tab in the app to find friends in two ways.

  • Find by ID: enter a friend's CronKey ID to find and add them right away.
  • Find by contacts: if you allow contacts access, we find friends who use CronKey by their phone numbers and add them automatically. Numbers are converted on your device into irreversible values, used on the server only to find friends and not stored. Names are not sent.

You can check and change your ID in More › My Profile (더보기 › 내 프로필).

Why does the app open when I tap 🎤 on iPhone?

iPhone doesn't allow keyboards to use the microphone directly. So when you tap 🎤, the CronKey app opens briefly to turn on voice input. Tap ◀ at the top left to go back to the app you were using, and you can start speaking right away.

The microphone is on only while you speak, and it turns off as soon as you finish or close the keyboard.

I want to use another language or the Cheonjiin layout.

In the app's Keyboard tab › Language settings (언어 설정) you can add English, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Português and Русский, and in Input settings (입력 설정) you can choose a layout for each language, such as Dubeolsik, Cheonjiin, QWERTY or AZERTY. Characters such as é, ñ and ü appear when you long-press a key.

I want to change the keyboard color or key sounds.

In the app's Theme tab (테마) you can choose a keyboard design or create a theme from your own photo. Key sounds can be turned on and chosen in Keyboard tab › Sound settings (사운드 설정). New settings apply the next time you open the keyboard.

CronKey doesn't appear in password fields.

For security, iPhone shows the system keyboard in password fields and number-only fields. This is normal.

Can I contact you directly from the app?

Yes. Write your problem, bug report or suggestion in More › Customer Center (더보기 › 고객센터) in the app and it goes straight to our support team. If you include an email address for our reply, we'll write back after reviewing it.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account right away in More › Delete Account (더보기 › 회원 탈퇴) in the app. Deleting your account immediately deletes your account information, and it cannot be undone.
